去る4月9日（土）、首都ジャカルタのジャカルタ・コンベンション・センター(JCC)で、インドネシア元日本留学生協会（プルサダ＝PERSADA・Association of Indonesia Alumni from Japan)が主体となり、メトロTVの協力の下、『Indonesia’s Sympathy for Japan – an evening of Hope』が実施された。日イ関係者およそ1,000名が参加した日本激励・応援プロジェクト。ジャズミュージシャンの渡辺貞夫さんも参加。この模様は、4月16日（土）メトロTVで放送される予定。

Jakarta, 12 April 2011 – Following the tragedy of massive earthquake and tsunami that hit the northeast coast of Honshu - Japan, Metro TV and PERSADA (Association of Indonesia Alumni from Japan) held a fundraising event called “Indonesia’s Sympathy for Japan – an evening of Hope”, at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, 9th of April 2011.

The event was attended by H.E. Kojiro Shiojiri – Ambassador of Japan in Indonesia, Taufik Kiemas – Chairman of Indonesian Assembly (2009 – 2014), Surya Paloh – President/CEO of Media Group (owner of Metro TV) and approximately 1000 guests with special performances of the Jazz legend musician Sadao Watanabe. Known for his skills as both a saxophonist and flute player, the Japanese musician Sadao Watanabe (68 years) awe the audience during the evening.

He performed 8 songs such as “I’m with You” and “Bengawan Solo”, “Just a Touch” duet with Indonesia diva Ruth Sahanaya, “Men and Women” duet with international Indonesian Jazz artist Dira Sugandi, “Share the World”, “Kaze no Yukue” and “Kuroi Hitomi” with students from Elfa’s Music School.

Beside Watanabe, the evening was also filled by cultural performances such as traditional music from Koto, Taiko, Eisa, O-mikoshi and collaborated song in Indonesian and Japanese language which showed good relationship between the two countries.

Not only music and cultural performances, at the same time, there were also donations came from a social community and companies in Indonesia to help the victims of earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Metro TV and PERSADA (Association of Indonesia Alumni from Japan) will give all donations to the Japanese Red Cross Society afterwards.
